Why "Candle in the Dark"?

Candle in the Dark is a reference to Carl Sagan's book The Demon-Haunted World: Science as a Candle in the Dark, in which Sagan encourages us to use the scientific method as a way of illuminating and critically thinking about the ideas we encounter. We believe science can shine a light on many of the challenges we face, and clear communications can fan the flame.
